If you start here it has you to choose the remote model number that you have first.
I find that sometimes the person needs a newer remote.

If your remote model number has an "X", example: RC65RX, this remote is interactive with the receivers you listed and it will program itself if you follow the instructions on the screen.
Menu, Settings, Remote Control,

nah im looking at programming remotes during the wait time for the receivers.
also there has to be a updated list with latest flat screen codes.....like try this one first.

Like LG is 11423, works on every LG ive encountered.

One problem one is insignia, most of them dont shut off with the off button, ive tried the incorrect model number before and got them to work, the correct model number code doestn work......how dumb is that???
Front and back?

The newest numbers are in the recievers and not necessarily in the remotes.
The receiver is capable of installing the newest number into the remote, if it has the "X" in the number.
I mostly use code search for the ones I don't have memorized. Newer flat screens normally shut off fairly quick. When they don't I go back and check the codes in the IRD, I use a stupid remote for this.

If I were a Tech of your caliber I would likely do code search till the TV turned off and on then ask the remote for the code. Once it gave it up I would pull my classified memo book out from behind my pocket protector and make a note. ;)

ah ic, so when i find the magic insignia code....how do i bring up the code?

and ya actually they call it the note pad app, same thing!
for most of the insignias iv encountered 10463 worked
code searching from some tvs is a major pita

some magnavox you go until the tvs turns on or off 4 times before the on off feature works, even then sometimes you have to press volume before hitting the on or off key, found that by accident one day.
I have a toshiba with a model code of 46l5200u1, and I can't seem to get the right code to make it work. I've tried a bunch of codes from the setup menu but just keep failing. I'm looking for one that will work with direct tv remote rc64.
RC64's are kind of antique. They don't have the newer codes.
Try to get an RC66 and a code should work.
Toshiba codes haven't changed in 20 years. Any remote should work. Keep trying.

Try this. Choose your remote and then type in the brand of the TV and follow the on screen instructions.
Then if you want to choose the RC66 remote and do the same thing. Compare the codes to see if they are different for the different remotes. I have not done this for the Toshiba but the newer model does have more codes in it.
