After adding my Yamaha A/V receiver to the remote I have lost the ability to control the volume of my Sony tv. It will only control the volume of the receiver now - no matter what setting I have it on. All other aspects are working great in controlling other devices.

I don't always have my a/v receiver on and like to use only the tv speaker system. Can I control both volumes via the remote independently or is my choice one or the other?

This one is painless to fix:

To Lock Volume to AV1, AV2 or TV
1. Slide the MODE switch to the AV1, AV2 or TV position to
lock the volume.
2. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the
green light under the selected switch flashes twice and
release both keys.
3. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light
flashes twice.)
4. Press and release the SELECT key. (The green light
flashes twice.)
NOTE: DIRECTV boxes don't have volume control, so
the remote will not allow the user to lock volume
to the DIRECTV mode.

Thanks for the reply. I did a remote reset last night and got my tv volume control back - but can I ADD the ability to control the a/v receiver volume as well? It's just nice having to deal with only one remote.

On the remote you can have both, per device only one vol. You can setup two DTV devices, one with tv vol and one AUd vol.
