I have a HR21-700 series and it seems the remote response has so much lag. When I try to change channels - it takes atleast 5 seconds for the channel to change. It's so frustrating to say the least. I have stopped using lots of functionalities due to this. Does anyone else ave these issues?

Thanks!

Have you tried a reset of the receiver thru the menu?

I haven't seen this problem on my units in a long time, but that sometimes helped.

I have a HR20-100 and it is really slow even after a reset. The only time that it is 'snappy' is after a software upgrade. It is even worse going to the Olympic channels 750-756 because of the menu options. My mother has a H20 (without DVR) and it is so much more faster. I just wish it could be that half that fast.

Just out of curiosity, how many channels are in the favorites list you're using, and what channels are you usually changing to?

We do not use the favorites list and we have so many channels that we watch (hd and non.) We have a family of eight so we are all over the channels. :)

I have the same issue every other week. Clears up after a RBR, but it always happens when I try to go to the guide and navigate. Is there a correlation of # of favs and the lag? I only have 183 setup on mine.

My favorites has about 3/4 of the total channels available.

Also - I have the same problem with the Olympic Channels (750-756) - it takes too long to change the channels in that range. Not sure what to do - it realy does effect my viewing pleasure. I went to a friend's home who has Dish Network and it was flawless - I loved sitting there switching channels without any lag time. I was so JEALOUS!

Anyhow if anyone has a solution please let me know. I hope Directv is working on this otherwise I might go back to Dish.

Thanks.

Is the lag only changing channels? If so check to see what you have the Native setting to. If you turn Native to OFF then channel changing will be a lot faster. Native On can be quite slow, especially if you are using HDMI and your TV doesn't do the HDMI handshaking very well.
For me the DVR becomes very unresponsive. Even when just navigating the guide it seems like every push of the button has a 10 second delay and enivitably ends with lock-up. The program still plays, but I can't do anything with the remote or buttons on the box. No response.

Do you see general sluggishness with the graphical user interface (like cursoring up and down a program list or the program guide), or is your only issue the length of time it takes to change channels? I ask this, because many HR21-xxx users are experiencing some pretty bad sluggishness with the GUI that appears to be the result of something in the DVR consuming all available processor cycles (like the processor use in a computer going to 100% and sitting there). The behavior of my HR21-200 is precisely like this much of the time.

I await a software fix. (and I've never used Native On). There is a another thread in this forum discussing the sluggishness in some detail, you might take a look at it as well.

Just an FYI, neither my HR20-700, nor HR20-100 show these same problems.
