First post for me, been lurking around for sometime....anyway I installed my HR20-700 last Sunday and during the setup process with D* I had a problem getting my local channels through the dish. I ended up getting sent from the first tech support to a second (higher) level and the guy finally determined I needed a new box so he made an order for me. About 5 minutes after I hung up the phone the channels started working so I called back to cancel the order. Well they shipped it anyhow! I haven't experienced a lot of problems other than it locked up a couple of times so my question is should I swap the one I have installed with the refurbed unit they sent? Is there anything a refurbed unit may have had done to it that the other one has not?

Thanks.

You might want to use your present unit for a couple of weeks and then decide.

If you swap the units, I believe you also have to swap the access cards.

BTW, welcome to the forum Silone.

Good advise dishdog gave.. you may as well post sat signals w/transponder info so we know whether it was a customer service error and not a signal one.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advise on how to possibly handle my situation. One more question though, on the paper work I received with the refurbed unit it says to ship it back within 7 days, any idea if I held onto it for a few more if they would charge me for it? I don't want to "buy" another unit if I don't have to!

I have one waiting to go back now. The "week" is normal. If you [as I have] hold on to it longer, you might be charged. BUT it will be credited to your account when you do ship it back or call D* and give them the tracking number. No real big deal & I think it would be worth "seeing what you have" first.

Given the range of PQ claimed by some users, I'd want to somehow compare the two. Several have commented how much better (or poorer) their replacement receivers were.
