Spoke to a CSR about replacing my HR24-500 with a HR34. I currently also have (2) H24-500 receivers w/ WHDVR activated. Bottom line, CSR said my H24's will not be able to utilize WHDVR off of the HR34, that anything recorded on the HR34 will only be able to be watched on the HR34. I'm calling b.s. on this, shouldn't the H24's be able to pull recorded content off the HR34 just like the HR24-500 I have now?

They claim that you need h25s in order for the hr34 to stream 3 remote locations, but my hr 23 and h25 stream at the same time no problem.

Ya that CSR agent is not very well informed... It works the same... The upside is that with the hr34 you are not limited to only one stream at a time to your hd receivers, you can do up to three at once.

Perhaps the CSR was confused. From what I understand, RVU clients would be unable to see whats on an HR24.

Only with H25's. And my guess HR's cause again I've watched a movie off my HR 34, with my HR 23 and H25 at the same time and had no issues. I even went one further and watched one on the hr 34 as well.

This is at the bottom.
Limit three (3) remote viewings at a time for an HMC receiver. Receiver modules H24 and lower limit one (1) remote viewing at a time

I'm pretty sure DirecTv's website is full of typos....

Except for perhaps the Lease Agreement.

I think your's is a typo. They are talking about H not HR's

So before you post false information you better make sure its fact, cause mine came right from Directv.

I bet if I search solid signal it will say the same.

Its says Limit to 1 remote streaming at a time PER DVR as well, But Solid signal also says, H25 required

http://manuals.solidsignal.com/SpecSheet_HR34_HDDVR_2011_Q4_R8_GR (3).pdf
Remote viewing requires a model H25 HD Receiver(s) or RVU-capable TV in each additional room,
There is a limit of one remote viewing per DVR at a time.

The HR34 is similar to the HR24 but with three additional tuners (total of 5), 500GB more storage (total of 1TB), support for 3 concurrent streams for MRV, PIP and RVU.

The firmware is still maturing for HR24 functional equivalence, but it's getting there. Otherwise an outstanding WHDVR.

OK , but can the Hr34 stream 3 previously recorded shows to 3 remote H24 rooms at the same time?

Cause everything I see, or heard is only the H25 are compatible to do that.

I'm not aware of any difference.

I have a mixture of H21/H24/H25 and they all work fine concurrently with the HR34.

I tried mine too and they worked, but I have only 1 HD DVR and my other is the H25, so thats within the requirements.

but if Directv and Solid signal don't support our findings, then I don't want to spread it all around that its a typo.

Cause you know what will happen the one time it doesn't work for someone.

Anyway, can you confirm all 3 of your rooms can stream from the HR34 at the exact same time? Not just 1 at a time, that we know. All 3 !!

Correct.

I'm not aware of any functional firmware difference between the different H models (H21/H24/H25).

The HR34 can provide 3 remote streams. The TVs receiving the stream can be RVU clients, HR34s, HR2Xs, H21+s, or R22s. There is no difference in the way an H24 works with MRV compared to the way an H25 works. The HMC page does have a typo. Click to the HD/DVR page to see the correct fine print:

Limit one remote viewing per HD DVR at a time, or up to three with the Home Media Center HD DVR.

The HD DVR page on Directv.com, or here?
