Is it just me, or does the amount of time replayed with the jump back vary wildly. It seems to me sometimes I have to hit it two or three times to get back eight seconds or so.

Then, last night I hit it once and it jumped back about 40 seconds, way too long. Then when I hit FF to move up to the dialogue I missed, it went straight past it to where I had jumped back from. It was like there was this forty second stretch I couldn't access other than playing it all the way through.

I guess I'm wondering if this is:

Is it just my imagination?

Is it defective?

Is it by design?

If it's not by design is there any chance of getting it a little more consistant?

The only thing I really miss from Tivo is the automatic adjustment when returning to play. I've heard that jump back to play approximates it, and it probably would if my jump back was the same every time. I'm sure I could train my eyes and hands to get it right, but I can't as long as the jump back changes.

Most of the time it backs up a half second or so, then pauses (freezes) and then continues after the point you started from.

I wonder, when you have the HR20 do say 6 30 second slips in a row, is each one of those randomized separately or are they all set for the same # of seconds?

No, It is not random... but it is not consistent either.
And my theory on this is, the compression level through out the playback is not consistant... so......

what button controls the 30 sec skip? why is none of these features in the HR20 book.

and if i hold down the replay button it will go back to the beginning, correct?
There are a lot of things not in the book...

Jump Back - Counter Clockwise Arrow, Above Left of the Play Button
30s (Forward Advance) - Clockwise Arrow, Above Rigth of the Play Button

Jump to Start - Hold Jump Back for 3 seconds
Jump to End - Hold Forward Advance for 3 seconds

Skip to Tick Forward - Hold FF for 3 seconds
Skip to Tick Reverse - Hold RW for 3 seconds.
