Reset everything question on my HR20-700

I have had not done a reset everything on this unit in about 17 months and consider my self a series link freak with numerous programs on my Series link/ season pass. I have been having problems as of late with black recordings like I did with this unit when I first got it.

My question is if I do a reset everything on my unit, will it wipe it clean as if it I had just got a new unit?

Because I’m thinking every patch I have received is causing all the problems I have now. Will the reset everything wipe out all past patches and put the newest one only or do all previous patches stay on the unit?

Is it worth doing a reset everything?

Thanks

A reset everything will indeed clear your series links... along with all other settings and recordings...

Have you tried simply rebooting the box? Or maybe leaving it unplugged for an hour or so?

Also... Please post your signals for each sat if you have a chance...

I have had to do a red button reset a few times over the past few weeks because my unit has totally looked up.

On the signal strengths I have on satellite 99(s): readings of 1-8 0-85-34-77-89-75
On 103(s) and 103(c) as low as 63 and highest 84

Satellite Transponder 101 is great I think the lowest is 82 highest 100
Satellite Transponder 110 all 3 are in the 92 to 95
Satellite Transponder 119 are in the 77 to 93

Another thing is I pay the maintenance plan and have never had my slim line realigned and the slim line was installed about 8 months before D* launched both satellites. Should I get my slim line realigned?

Thanks

If you're referring to software versions, I think the answer is 'no'. The reset everything option cleans the hard disk, but the system software is not kept on the hard disk.

Thank you, that was what I was wondering also:icon_peac
I do not have the HR20-700, but I do have the HR21-100 and I can tell you that for me - cleaning the hard drive/formatting cured my problems with the HD DVR... I had DirecTV installed about a week ago and ever since the installation I was having problems with the prioritizor for recordings and scheduling on the To Do List. For example - shows that should have been picked up by the Prioritizer and To Do List simply did not show up when they should have. After cleaning the hard drive and resetting everything, I was able to successfully program the shows I wanted.

I lost all of my settings such as favorites and recordings, but in my case I only had the receiver a few days to it was not really a big loss for me...
I just did the Reset everything…
