I did a search and didn't find anything.

I misprogrammed my remote (the volume controls went to the TV instead of to the receiver), so I thought I'd start over from the beginning. I reset all in the remote setup menu(s) and now the remote - which I had set to RF - does not work at all.

How should I go about resetting the remote to work with the HR20? I don't want to red button reset if I don't have to. Can I just program the remote to use RF again? I'll check the manual.

Further update: red-button resetting the HR20 has not solved the problem. I can put the remote an inch from the unit and it still does not work. I've put new batteries in, cleared every input, etc. The remote simply does not work.

Please help. This will ruin this evening's TV viewing if I'm unable to get the remote to work!

To get the remote back in to RF mode:

1. Set to DTV (with the switch)
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-6-1
4. press CH UP
5. enter the last 6 digits of your receiver ID # (you can find it on the sticker in the door by the red reset)
6. press SELECT

Thanks. That worked. I couldn't find these instructions online - including having done a search here - so thanks. I appreciate it.

Is it normal for the remote to lose all contact with the receiver in such a fashion? All I did was reset it.

I'll play with it more tomorrow. I'd like volume/muting to work on the receiver, and power to work on the receiver and TV. Both receiver and TV are Sony models. If I need to do this in a specific order, let me know. Last time I did TV then receiver and the TV kept getting the volume commands. (No response necessary here, as I'll probably figure it out).

Again, thanks.

When you reset the remote, the remote was taken out of RF mode.
So it wasn't sending an RF signal.

The HR20 was still in RF mode, so it wasn't looking for an IR signal.

Another way to get around this would have been to use the front panel of the HR20, to get the HR20 back to IR mode, and then follow the online instructions.
