Hey guys-
I finally got HD installed yesterday (receiver HR21-100) and so far am impressed. I've only had a couple of minor glitches, which I've fixed myself. However, here's something I have not been able to figure out---My RCA 52" HD-Ready TV (model # D52W26) is displaying both HD and SD beautifully (even though HD is clearly better). I have the HD DVR connected through component video, as there is no HDMI input. The problem is the resolution/format settings. 480i, 480p, and 1080i are all able to be displayed on my TV. But something weird happens when I switch to 720p. It shows up in a way that the image is squeezed and shows up in three columns (like three of the same video appearing side-by-side). This goes for all 720p configurations, whether it's stretch, crop, etc. If any of you can help with this issue, please let me know.
Also, here's one more minor issue with the resolution. When I set it to 1080i, the image appears significantly blown-up, where large portions (about 10% on each side) appear to be cut off. Again, this goes for all configurations.
The best picture possible that I am satisfied with thus far is 480p (cropped). It looks great and there is minimal overscan. But, it would be nice to watch in 720p or 1080i.
Thanks in advance for all of your help and I anticipate your response.
