I'm so proud that we are now in second "Beta Test" year of the WORLD'S WORST DVR's ever.

I only ask that my DVR records my programs, I like extra features, but the CORE function is to RECORD PROGRAMS.

My Tivo NEVER NEVER EVER failed to record a program.

My Direct JUNK HR20-100 has missed many. Three series recordings just this week!!!!

Apparently, my dog must be breaking in the house and "User Cancelling" my recordings while I'm at work or gone to the movies.

DUMP the whole line of OEM crap DVRs and go back to REAL DVR's, TIVOs. This time don't cripple them in an attempt to make the OEMs look better.

We're happy to allow venting.

We're also happy to actively solve problems. If you'd like to list details on the missed recordings, the configuration of your environment, the history entries, etc. we might find real solutions.

Here to help,

Btw, what type of dog do you have? Ours would occasionally change channels or start recordings (depending upon where paws landed.) :)

Cheers,
Tom

It has failed to record every episode of Big Brother 10 since the update. (Three episodes this week...) CBS local Cincinnati area via satellite.

If I look in my "to do" list it shows nothing. I deleted the series recording and re-added it. It only showed the selected recording in the "TO DO" list, then failed to record that.

I reset the whole thing, and it still fails to show anything in the "to do" list after trying yet another series recording, this time from off the air tv CBS channel.

An 18 month old black lab. He's smart, but not smart enough to close the door back after he's broken in the house to cancel a recording.

Ours likely was, but he also was smart enough to not delete recordings. He was an extremely intelligent dog.

Our cream lab on the other hand was not very smart at all. Yet, we loved him all the same. :)

Ok, someone PLEASE help me to get a TIVO from Directv that will record all the new HD channels.
Hmm... can't help with that one. Sorry.

Hopefully we'll get the HR2x to a satisfactory level of reliability for you instead.

Cheers,
Tom

Sorry, that's not going to happen. If you will hit menu, Manage Recordings, History and then select the show that didn't record. It will tell you why it didn't record. What does your's say?

Tell us about the series link settings you have for Big Brother.

Where was this in your prioritizer?

And if you select it in the prioritizer, can you bring up an episode list? What do you see if you bring up the episodes by way of the guide?

Tom

It says "This episode was canceled by the viewer." (1)

Nobody was in the house.

It also apparently "viewer cancels" all future episodes too.

Very top of the Priority list.

Set to record all new episodes, save till user deletes. 55% free on DVR.

Full list of shows are listed, but none but the top one have the "series R" icon in front of them, when they should ALL have it.

That can happen if you have deleted the series link and recreated it. We can ignore those for the moment...

Well, I have had my HR20-100 for over a year now and never had it miss a recording...for some reason it will not season pass Bikini Destinations on HDNET but thats not a biggy.
I still do think my Tivos are easier to use and i do miss dual line buffers. It just makes the whole viewing experience better. Shame on D for not giving us that. As far as all the other options, id really isnt that important to me to be able to bring down musci and pics from my PC.. a nice trick if you are into that...but my HR20 is basically to watch TV and recordings and the such.
I have not issue with my HR20, but my Tivos are just easier and smoother in FF and RW. With all this said. I have heard nightmare stories about comcasts units and others so all in all, Im happy, but not in love with my HR20. I still wish D had stuck with Tivo but so be it. I would not consider any source for TV other than D and have been a loyal customer since May, 1995.

How about trying to find the show in the guide and hit the "R" button to set it manually. Let's see if it will record that way.

Oh, and it has recorded other series since the update, just not Big Brother, but none of those were locals.

I wonder if it has something to do with it coming on 3 times a week, not always at the same time slot?

And FYI that when you set up a new series link it won't add all the episodes for about 24 hours or so since it's a background process.

I agree that the history isn't going to tell us much now since he deleted the series link and thus it "canceled" all future showings. My advice for now is to give it until morning or sometime tomorrow and see if the ToDo list is populated and we'll go from there. Since this is a local station corrupt/bad guide data is always a possibility unfortunately.
