Happy to be coming back to DIRECTV after a painful uverse experience.

This Saturday I have a scheduled install for 1 HR34 and 5 HD receivers.

My old setup had a zinwell 4 to 8 output and I had that mounted on a control board in the attic about 15 feet from the dish and had straight pulls to each box from there. I did not have whole house dvr so it was configured for normal wiring.

I know i need to remove the zinwell but is this where they should mount the swm or swim???? Is it better closer to the dish????

I will also need SWM 16 single wire multi switch for the 13 tuners correct??

I do all my own wiring and if i need to change want to do it Friday.

A quick diagram would be great.

Putting the SWM16 where the multi-switch is right now should be fine. I am curious though, you state an HR34 and 5 H25s: I get 10 tuners out of that and not 13. Either way, it will still be a SWM16. I would put the HR34 of one of the SWM16 outputs and then put the other receivers off a splitter off the other SWM16 output. Either that or use a 2-way splitter off the one output for the HR34 and a H25 and a 4-way splitter with the other 4 H25s.

sounds like the wiring will already be in place. the swm 16 will go where the 4x8 is. You will use the 4 wires going out to the dish that are already in place.

Sorry my math was off your right 10 tuners.

I was posting in the middle of a ISO audit here at work so my quick math failed.

I have read they may only come with a 8 tuner SWM should I buy a 16 for insureance??

They will install what is needed. If you have more than 8 tuners listed on your order, you will get a SWM16. If they mess up and don't have a SWM16, they will get one for you.

The SWM 16 has two outputs labeled SWM1 and SWM2. Each of those can only support 8 tuners. If they try to run more than that, it won't work. My installer (and his supervisor) didn't know that (and I didn't either at the time); this forum educated us all.

So when you're going through your install this Saturday, post here if you questions or any problems.
