He was too young to leave at age 63, as was his co-star on Welcome Back Kotter.

I'm starting to wonder if this is yet another one of these shows with some kind of "curse" on it...

Robert Hegyes, who played the tough Jewish Puerto Rican wheeler-dealer Juan (Luis Pedro Phillipo de Huevos) Epstein was a co-star on the show, according to tv.com.

Hegyes died in January from an apparent heart attack. He was 60.
