I have an HR-34 and will probably be buying a couple of Samsung RVU-capable TVs for two rooms where we only occasionally watch TV. I suppose the RVU solution is easiest to start with since there's no new hardware to buy and the per-month cost appears to be comparable, but I haven't used either "whole house" inter-STB streaming or RVU, so I'm curious as to others' experiences. I'd be getting H-24s, and would want to wall-mount them.

Independently of the consideration of having an extra tuner, which did you like better? What sort of remote is desirable for the RVU approach?

I'd say your question cannot be answered in full yet, since the only RVU clients available are those integrated into some of the Samsung Smart TV series sets who's problems and issues are discussed in the sticky tread here;

The RVU set top client box, the C31-700, is rumored to be released next month so its performance can't be commented on yet.

Unless you are one of the secret field testers of course... :D

If you get Samsung RVU capable TV's you won't need the H24's.

The other day, I was looking at Samsung RVU sets and the smallest screen size still appears to be 46"

That's what I don't get. To me, the biggest benefit of an RVU set is where a smaller screen size would likely be used, like a bedroom, den or office.
I don't get it either. I would like to add to small TVs to places where I don't want additional boxes - the garage, master bathroom, etc.

To me the answer is obvious. The first models with any new features are the expensive ones. FWIW, as the owner of an RVU TV I would "almost" recommend it. It's still too slow and brings only limited benefit. The 2012 models should be RVU certified soon and the hope is, with their faster processors, they may be comparable in speed to a local receiver.

I don't have an RVU TV, so am not able to comment on that aspect.

You might compare the cost of an RVU capable TV versus the cost of an H25 receiver. I think your monthly recurring cost will be the same whichever you choose. The H25 (you mentioned H24) is much smaller form factor than other receiver models, so would probably be the one you would want.

Given how new RVU is, my choice would probably be to go with the H25's for now. If down the road DirecTV releases their own RVU client (which they will, just don't know when) you can consider switching over to that if it provides features you want that the H25 isn't giving you (like pause/rewind on live tv).
