I'm moving in a few days and an installer is coming out. Right now at my current apartment I have a slimline 5 (non SWM) multiswtich.

At the address i'm moving to the installer is going to put up a Slimline 3 with SWM. I was just looking at the dish setup on the receiver and under "Dish Type" do I chose number 17: Slimline-3s (SWM) for my new dish setup when it happens or something else?

Thanks

The tech should do all of that when he makes sure everything is working.

If he dosen't then the receivers are designed to recognize the correct SWM Lnb when you run dish setup.

Some do, some don't.

You have to run satellite setup to get the correct dish type on the info screen.

Any time lnb's are swapped from one to another satellite setup should be run.

Ok but when i do the sat setup if a slimline 3lnb with SWM is installed number 17: Slimline-3s (SWM) should be chosen in the dish setup right?
As long as there's nothing else after it yes. It's been too long since I looked at the dish type list but I thought the SWM 3 was lower.

With a SWM LNB you don't get to make choices the receiver will gray out the correct one, you get to select dual or single tuner and continue.

On rare occasions the receiver will gray out SWM and be confused about the LNB leaving it for you to select. If this happens select signal strength on the right and cycle through the satellites. When you come out of that number 17 will be grayed out and you can select continue.
