A large number (most I think) of the recordings currently scheduled for my series links on our HR34 have disappeared from the To Do list. They were there a few days ago and now they are gone. When I list upcoming programs (for say The Killing and Mad Men), the programs appear but are no longer scheduled to record.

Deleting and reentering the SL works as does manually clicking the record button. But we have 74 SLs, so we sure don't want to have to do that for all of them. (We tried rebooting but no luck so far.)

Anyone else having this problem and does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

In my experience the to-do list is a living breathing thing...one day it could show 150 scheduled recordings, and the next 120, and 175 the day after that...about the only thing I tend to worry about is what it shows wont record due to conflicts, so I go in and try to resolve them..it rarely misses a recording that I can find.

This is not that problem. The Killing and Man Men, for example, are close to their season finales. Both have SLs and both were set to record this coming Sunday automatically, but a couple of days ago all of their future recordings, including this Sunday vanished. They were all set fine this past Monday. This was true for almost all of the other SLs.

The To Do list in the D* DVRs simply doesn't work the way it should. Instead of fixing it, they just keep burying it in the menus so that nobody can find it. I don't know why they can't fix it, or even why it's broken. You'd think a device that does nothing but record shows and plan which shows to record would get it figured out days in advance. No other DVR has this problem.

Fortunately, the DVR does record almost every show it should, missing maybe one every six months or so. So stop checking the To Do list -- it's a waste of time and will only stress you out.

Look for them Sunday afternoon, I bet they reappear.

The HR34 right now is very quirky and the ToDo list is probably the quirkiest part. I'm still quasi-babysitting my HR34 and have important shows set to record on another DVR as well. I notice things disappearing from my ToDo list and reappearing as well. I haven't missed any recordings with my HR34 though. (knock on wood)

Just as a point of reference, my HR34 TDL is showing Killing and Mad Men scheduled to record on Sunday, along with everything else (383 total recordings scheduled, ATM, for 82 SLs).

I always set my SLs to "both", but that shouldn't matter for those two shows. Just pointing it out in case that's the issue.

Also, if you recently got updated to 54C, it could take 12-24 hours to re-index the GUIDE data and re-build all the SLs.

Well you don't have to take my word for it.....but how about the word of 4 or 5 others that posted similar info after me?

Maybe I was unclear what I meant. Things show up and disappear seemingly at random. One day The Killing will be there, the next it may be gone, and the day after that back again. That is what I meant by a living breathing thing....it may not show up again, but it always records.

Yeah, I don't really pay too much attention to the To Do List as far as double checking it to make sure it's going to record something, I just trust that it will. There have been very few times that it hasn't recorded something it should have and most of the times I was able to easily set a manual recording for a repeat of the show.

Of course I'm using HR21s and an HR22 so maybe the HR34 is a bit worse.

The only thing I really use the To Do List for is to see if I'm going to be in trouble with disk space. If I'm starting to run low on disc space I'll check to see how much is supposed to be recording in the next day or two and I'll know if I have to make sure to watch and delete some stuff, or delete without watching or if there isn't much coming up I just leave it alone.
