I think I already know the answer to this but not 100 percent sure since the new guide came out - but I have seen a few series that start mid-April and before I forget I want to schedule them to record, but since they are not showing on the guide yet, can this even be done? I'm afraid I will forget to set them.

That's a perfect use for the TV shows reminders feature of this site. There's a sticky thread in tv talk if it's not on the calendar, then you can have a reminder sent for it.

The only workaround to that would be to create a AutoRecord using Boolean keywords for the name of the show and the channel.

This won't work for a series pass, but using Manual, I can record a show out as far as 4/23. Hopefully that will remind you to set up the series pass later.

I do it all the time with an autorecord series link.

Here's an example of how I do it:

"The Glades" is returning this summer sometime...I think its farther out than 2 weeks so it should work as an example.

Smart search for GLADES CCHAN 265, red button, All, it won't find any matches, Choose autorecord, set your options as you choose.

It will record the show when it comes on. If you choose to setup a regular series link after the show starts airing, knock yourself out.

One of the shows is called "hotel impossible" on travel channel (I think it starts April 9) and the other was is Kathy on Bravo which starts sometime in april........Her D list show got canceled.

I just smart searched per instructions above & it worked. But I want to make sure when you said CCHAN was that a typo? I did it exactly this way

I don't think I've ever heard of someone complaining that the Boolean AutoRecords was not working correctly. In each case, where something was not working, it was usually due to operator error.

and your DVR may blow up and that is not covered under the protection plan.

Is that operator error? It sure didn't work worth a flip when trying to catch BnS and GoTA episodes prior the current season starting. Mostly skipping past any NON-conflicting episode showings multiple times on anything other than 530, just to record the EXACT same episode usually days later on 530.

So I set the auto record for "Kathy cchan (and whatever channel bravo is) and it's recording all of the "Real housewives" with the name Kathy in the description. I guess I need to adjust. It is working though. I think I need to change it kathy ttitle cchan 237. Hopefully then it will only search for the title with that name only, but it might record some of her specials since her name is in the title, I don't know.
