Scheduling and Recording in HD

669 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  nutmegjumps
Hey all,

It seems that shows scheduled for recording will, by default, record in SD. Such shows are from the networks like My Name is Earl, the Office, Greys Anatomy.
i have to manually begin record mode to capture the HD content.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Michael

How are you setting up the timer? If the timer is set from the Guide, you need to Select the program from the channel you want to record it from. If you record it from an SD channel it will be SD but if you record it from an HD channel it will be HD. You just need to be sure you define what you really want. If you use a DishPass timer it will record from whatever channel it finds the program on.

Dish Pass also seems to find the show on the Dish Local before the OTA also, so watch out if your Dish Local is not HD. I run into this problem with CBS. The Dish Local is not HD, but my OTA is. I have to change any Dish Pass scheduled timers from the Dish Local channel to the OTA. Thankfully, that only happens rarely.

That makes sense. How do you remove a dishpass?
Select the timer and click the delete button.
Thanks much! I've been looking for a menu option.
