i recently came up here asking about question on how to improve the PQ on the HD TiVO DVR. someone suggested that i set the format to 1080i. it was fine on 1080i until the recent update. now on 1080i the PQ on SD channels is blurry. so i changed the format to 480i and it looks better but theres still a very noticable difference. we are using a 42 inch View Sonic hdtv (hdmi). i dont know the exact details on the tv.

if any one know which format or which connection besides HDMI, (rca jacks, or s-vid) would bring the best PQ please let me know. thanks.

SD broadcasts are in 480i. The HR10-250 can be set to output in 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i. The S-video output will only work if the output is set to 480i. The component and HDMI outputs will work at any setting. The best recommendation I can give you is to try all outputs at the various settings and decide which looks best to you. Just because someone thinks their monitor looks best at a certain resolution setting doesn't mean it will look the same on your monitor. Experiment and pick the one you like the best. In other words, there is no correct answer to your question without being able to view the exact same setup you have.
