Tonight we are having a bad rain storm up here. We almost always loose the satellite signal during bad weather. Not really a big deal unless it is scheduled to record a show and we are not home in time to reschedule the record times to the west coast feed.

Anyway is there any way to turn off the "searching for signal" notice. It will keep showing up even if I am watching something that I previously recorded. It is just an annoyance, but it takes up most of the lower rt corner of the show.
Thanks,

unfortunately, there is no way to "turn off" the message..it will eventually time out if you leave the receiver on the same channel though.
Unfortunately, every time the signal drops in and out the display refreshes and it's back. Why even display it when watching a recorded show? My Tvo doesn't do it and neither should the R15.

I agree this is totally annoying and should be changed. Users should be able to turn off this notification while watching recorded shows.

I could frankly do without this message under any circumstances. Once the dish is mounted and properly aimed, with limited exceptions (new growth in a tree, for example), there's nothing one can do in a signal loss situation but wait until it comes back.

Worst case make it really small or some sort of an icon that's itself small. Thats been one thing that drives me nuts is the amount of screen realestate that messages take up. Far too much in my eyes. I can handle the messages just make them smaller.

I like them, but only want to see them again if there is a change in the statis of the tuners. A little smaller wouldn't hurt either. But there is no reason that it shouldn't go away when you click ok.

don't know how it is in your area but, what i usually do is change the channels to a channel on SAT B (locals, Spanish channel's HBO LATINO), don't know if its my area or the way my dish is setup but SAT B usually never goes out. then the message goes away. test that out next time it rains.

but yea i wish there was a way to turn that off too.

I think that's true even for single sat systems: tune to a local channel, since spotbeams are stronger (mine reads 100 on a clear day). It will take thicker clouds (or whatever is causing the particular incident) to lose the spotbeam.
