I currently have Deadliest Catch set to record all new episodes only. My to do list has episodes that are not new set to record. It looks like it schedules to record all episodes that do not have a date aired in the description when I hit info. Is this a glitch in the programming guide that it doesn't know when the show aired and if it is a new episode or not? It is happening with a couple other shows also.

Yes, if the guide info is not complete it will record shows that you may have previously seen. Its better than the alternative, which is missing shows you haven't seen.

Are the episodes out a few weeks? I've noticed that usually when that happens the episode info will update as the date gets closer and if it isn't new it won't record.

I'll have to check that Panda, usually when I see them in my to do list I delete them, guess I'm a little OCD

What's annoying is the Social Reload episodes which seems to air on Fridays. It's recorded as first run but it's just a repeat with useless content added.

Ive never really paid attention to why but I notice for the episodes of Victorious I have set up for my daughter, it will schedule any and all episodes and then cancel the ones that arent new. I can look right now and my To-Do list has 35 eps scheduled. Every single one of them will cancel because there is nothing new coming on.

Many channels just give generic program data until a week or even a few days before the actual airing, when they finally add specific episode detail. So the DVRs do as others say, schedule all shows where there is no specific episode data, and then when that data does make its way to the dvr, it will update itself and either cancel the recording, or leave it as set to record.

Another reason not to look at the to do list...
