Second receiver install?

556 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  techrep
Yesterday i had a second receiver installed an have a few questions.

The receiver i had installed is the R15-500.My other receiver is the HR21-700

I went into the satellite setup menu on the R15-500 and this is what i saw.I noticed the Azimuth and elevation are different.

Setup
Signal strength
step 6 of 9
Azimuth 226
Elevation 38

On the HR21-700

The Azimuth is 217
Elevation is 40

Should they be like that?

Also only 1 satellite is showing up on the R15-500,101(A)
Should i be seeing more than one satellite on the R15-500?

Also should the signal strength from satellite 101 be this much of a difference on the receivers?

D15-500
1-8 94 93 91 67 92 72 92 96
9-16 93 92 69 71 92 97 89 96
17-24 92 54 91 71 68 72 92 72
25-32 70 0 92 96 93 72 68 97

HR21-700
1-8 96 95 91 84 93 100 92 99
9-16 95 96 94 94 94 100 89 100
17-24 94 56 92 95 92 100 93 99
25-32 95 0 94 95 95 100 92 100

Are the ZIP codes set to the same on both boxes. Unless you get any SD programming [locals, chinese, spanish ] from 119 you only need 101 on the SD DVR.
An yes the AZ/EL settings can be off a bit. They are only pointers.
And signal values differ from box to box and from one software release to the other.

Metzen&techrep thanks for your response's.

I thought everything was ok,just wanted to make sure.

I notice on the new receiver the zip code is incorrect, the installer put in 22222 should be 26101.Don't get locals.
The dish selected is showing up "round" on the D15-500
On the HR21-700 it's 5LNB smile

Yeah. most tech just put any number there since it doesn't matter.
and many times as long as the first few digits are fine, it will get you ball park on things (like they always put in 55555 in my area because all the zip codes are 55XXX)

If I remember correctly, the round dish pointed at a different sat. I can't remember if it was sat 110 or not, it's been to long. The 3LNB oval points to sat 110 and could be the reason for the difference in rough point values. Also, the dish selection governs channel population in the guide.
