Some of you know my story, my Cavalry 750GB External eSATA HDD broke down (overheating) and I sent it in for repair. They sent me a brand new unit. It doesn't work, either!

This is ridiculous! Can't these people make a reliable product!? From all the people here who've had problems with this company's products, I'd say, "No!"

Great, so I, yet again, have to wheel myself over to my HR20 and disconnect everything and send this unit back, and again pay for shipping!

Let this be a warning to the rest of you looking for an external HDD for your receivers, DON'T BUY A CAVALRY!!! They're garbage!

Just to make sure I'm doing it correctly, connect the new HDD, turn it on, and do a hard reset? I sometimes went back to the internal and then back again to the external and this was all I had to do.

People trying to save a couple of bucks keep buying junk as well...ANTEC MX-1 and good WD Green is a much better choice. Way too many posts on this board about the failed drives in these ready made off the shelf types of units....

The fan on my Cavalry 750 gig died which cause me lots of sudden lockups.

Not wanting to deal with any more issues, I just bought an Antec MX-1 for $70 and slapped the actual drive in there. Works great. You can find the MX-1 for around $50 also if you are willing to wait.

I went through three Cavalry 1tbs until it became obvious they were shipping me back used drives. I even got one with the serial number taped over from its previous 750gb inhabitant.

Pulling the drive and putting it into an Antec MX-1 fixed everything. I don't know why people continue to buy from them. The quality seems to have gone into the toilet.

I bought one because it came with a 1tb WD drive and it was cheaper to buy it that way (at the time) than buying the bare drive.

I pulled the drive out of it and put it in an mx-1, and put an old sata drive into the cavalry box for pc backups.

Voids the warranty on the cavalry enclosure, but the WD OEM drive I pulled out has a 3 year warranty with WD.

This was my second replacement. I've asked Cavalry to issue me a UPS Call Tag, 'cause I don't want to pay the shipping anymore. If they don't, I said I wanted my full purchase price returned if I had to pay for shipping the unit back to them.

I'm now fed up with both their products and warranty service.

EDIT: I just got my RMA request returned without acknowledging my demand for a UPS Call Tag, and so I requested this RMA canceled so I can resubmit a new RMA for full refund of my purchase price. If I have to pay, yet again, for shipping, then I only want a refund.
