Hello!

I was hoping someone could help me out and hope I am posting in the right category. I thought I cold remember a few years ago, you could go on your phone and go to directv website and select something to record when your not at home so long as your genie and/or DVR is left on? I had tried doing this with the new directv app that I downloaded on my phone today as a test run. What I had set to record never recorded. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

I selected which box I wanted the show/movie to record to, and nothing happened even though in the app it said it was set to record. I even went through and selected both DVR and genie to see if one of them would pick it up. Still nothing happened.

Did something change and I didn't know it had or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. :)

The Android DIRECTV app is flawed.

You can select single or multiple DVR's as the target for your program but if you change any of the defaults (such as keep until I delete) it will report unable to record. With erratic behavior like that it is not inconceivable there are other bugs such as the one you are reporting.

Routinely I set up sports events and confirm they are in the to-do list only to come back the next day and see no recording. A close look at the recording history shows no recording or no cancelled by viewer.

While I know your question is if the app says it is set to record, what happened to the event? I can only suggest you try the same actions on a windows computer or another Android device as a comparison to your smartphone app.

I would also suggest rebooting every device in the food chain to eliminate any corrupted firmware or guide data.

What you can try is Logging into your D* account online and pull up the guide and set the recording from your Account on the web - Doing it thru your phone use a Browser NOT a app or a PC -that will work much better than the app.
