I've checked many times on these channels and so far exactly zero HD showings. Either they aren't doing any, or I'm looking at the wrong times. What's up?

(note channels are 539 & 542)

everything i have seen on those channels have been HD....
some of the movies have the side pillars that are part of
the broadcast...but if you press info or display on your
TV's remote it will say 1080i HD....

Uh, that means that they are SD upconverts. For example, the movie on right now has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (Silence Becomes You) but it is shown in 4:3. That is not an HD source.

I have my receiver set at 1080i and native off, it always shows 1080i on all channels including SD. So I played around with that setting.

Those 2 channels show 1080i all the time, regardless of whether the actual show is in HD. According to the listings, NONE of the shows are actually in HD though.

A lot of the Showtime programs don't have the HD flag in the guide data. I had Showtime for a little while a couple weeks ago and I did see some incorrectly-labeled HD content.

I have noticed that too, but that doesn't seem to be the case on SHO3 and Extreme. I have checked quite a few times and have yet to see either a listing or an actual showing in HD on either of those two channels.

You do realize that they were only upgraded to HD very recently.

The program on 539 right now (End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones) is HD. Lot of archival footage so much of it is grainy but it is HD.

The listings definitely aren't listed as HD, but I have watched quite a few movies in HD on those channels. One that come to mind off the top of my head is Shooter.

I just checked, yep both in HD.

Would be nice to have the listings correct, wouldn't it?

All I know is I signed up for Showtime 3 weeks ago and I'll be cancelling as soon as the 30 days is up. They repeat the same movies every single day. Count how many times you see 'Zodiac', 'Silence Becomes You', or 'RX' in the listings...in the age of DVRs and On Demand it makes no sense to repeat programming this much.

I emailed Showtime the other day and here is the response I got from them:

Dear Lloyd,

Thank you for contacting us. After some investigation with our engineers, we have confirmed that DIRECTV is broadcasting both Showcase (Showtime 3) HD and Showtime Extreme HD, with around 60% TRUE HD programming (virtually all TRUE HD in primetime). Can you please verify that you are indeed watching the High Definition channels and that your receiver is correctly set to receive HD programming? You may also want to try contacting DIRECTV if this technical difficulty persists.

Thank you again for contacting us, and thanks as always for watching Showtime.

Sincerely,
Showtime Customer Service

This seems to confirm what others and I have noticed. The HD is there, just not listed that way.
