Every Monday I get mail on my receivers from DirecTv. It's like clockwork every Monday I get Mail. I'm Sick of them sending me mail. Is there anyway to turn Mail "Off" And While I'm Ranting Has DirecTv ever come up with a way so we could turn off our scoreguide when we flip to Sportschannels? I am getting so sick of these.:mad::mad::mad:

Just ignore both. You have to actually click on the mail to see what it is....DON'T CLICK ON IT. I have numerous messages up there....I simply pay no attention to it.

Scoreguide......again, Don't click on it. You need to click the red button to activate it. Don't click the red button or click exit when you see the message and it'll go away.

I don't like the scrore card pop up or the local weather pop up.
They should just assign a a default button or channel like the Active button is more then fine. We don't need to see these on every sports channel.

The mail, well its nice to hear offer, but when I subscribe to Premier pack, they shouldn't send this free preview junk mail when it benifits us in no way shape or form.

The mail bothers me as well. I've taken the same approach and ignored it. Once every couple weeks I'll just delete all the messages in about 5 seconds.

If these threads didn't pop up occasionally, I wouldn't even have any idea there was Directv Mail - in fact, when I saw the thread title, I thought the OP was talking about snail mail he was receiving.

I've never opened Directv Mail and have never noticed it.

Saw an old sony receiver (sat-b55) in a smatv, that receiver actually has an led on the front that lights up red when there is mail. If I remember right that was a damn fast unit too.
Loved my Sony Sat A55's and B55's. They were rock solid, fast and worked great. The A55 was Dolby Digital and one of the few at the time. I slaved the B55 to a TiVo Series 1 for years via the low speed data port and it never failed. Those were great units.

At least we have a free HBO/Cinamax preview this weekend. I wouldn't have known, without the mail service.
Season premier of True Blood; that will always be a free weekend(most likely).

It would be nice if you didn't have to read the full message to delete it. They should support use of the red delete button in the messages subject list rather than requiring you to open the message and then selecting the delete option.

To get rid of accumulated mail quickly, select View All. That will get you the headers. Then hit the Dash key on the remote twice for each header and watch them disappear one by one.

It wasn't so long ago that DTV defended its practice of not mailing us about important things (such as the reassignment of FX a few days before the Shield finale) because it said it didn't want to bother us unnecessarily. And now look.

I have an old RCA DRD 480 RE still in service...connected to my bedroom SD tube TV. The 480RE flashes a bright green LED on the front panel when there is mail to be read. At night, it lights up the whole bedroom! (You can't just cover the LED with tape...it's so bright that it flashes through the slots in the top of the box, and lights up the ceiling.) I therefore have to delete the mail to shut the stupid light off. Some have asked, why such an ancient receiver? It's lightning fast, can operate off of a single LNB dish aimed at the 101, and is an ideal RV satellite receiver. I believe this unit has been in service uninterrupted since about 1994.
