I am so frustrated with D* right now. For the 2nd time (and last time) I tried changing my programming package on the DirecTV website. I want to go from Premier down to HD DVR package and just add sports - I recently got an Apple TV and don't need the extra movie channels and fluff anymore.

So, I go to make the change and then an error comes up saying they are having difficulties and I now no longer have any package! I can't add anything! And of course, this happens after hours, so calling them resulted in a "Call back when we are open" message. This happened to me an month and a half ago as well. Wanted to go up to Premier but instead got 721 on every single channel. I called and the guy said the website was having problems so he had to do it over the phone. Took 30 minutes to get everything right.

If the stuff doesn't work, take it from the website. Please! My service is now rendered useless until I can get a chance to call them tomorrow.

There is tech support operators available 24 Hours a day. Call again and inform the system you need tech support. They can correct this error.

That happened to me. I dropped all the movie channels in May because I do not watch them in the summer. The web site cancelled everything. When I called them that evening they got me up and running, but now I was a NEW customer. I lost my preferred customer status and everything. They will not admit there is a problem with the web site. You can add all the programming you want, but you can't cancel anything.

I'd never use their website to change programming... Cost me $300 and two hours on the phone last year to fix their bug.

(The $300 overcharge was credited to my D* account, but they wouldn't refund it to my credit card)

I just wish they would run the site on something other than an IBM-XT with 64K of Ram and no hard drive. :D

If were any slower...it would run backwards...;)
I have been told that prior to the D12 launch, the server will be upgraded to a Commodore 64 with dual external floppies and full CGA graphics.

I've been able to change it before, rather easily. But, for whatever reason, since they site update several months ago, I've been getting errors all over, this one being the biggest. The other one I had was with PPV...but I've put PPV behind me for good!

On the phone with them now, spending time getting going again. :hurah:

I have no problems with speed on the DIRECTV web site, so perhaps it's a more localized issue, such as the user's ISP or home network that contributes to perceptions of slowness?
Nope, plenty of thoughput here. The general info sections are ok, but areas like the guide listing and account pages are very slow. The guide display is especially bad.

I had a similar issue back about 6 months ago. It was because I had the old Premier grandfathered package (that included DVR fee) and the web site couldn't handle the change. Called in and they fixed me up and gave me a $10 credit for 12 months for my trouble.

So I would say if you have the old premier pack that includes the DVR fee then I suggest calling in to downgrade and check your channels while on the phone to make sure.

Also, you can add programming, but rarely take it away (referring to premiums and sports plans). Even when I am WAY out of the 30 day window, it tells me I will be charged for early disconnect...and I couldn't cancel NFL ST either on the website.

After I get done with the service rep (who at least isn't in India as far as I could tell) they tell me "you can always make changes on our website"..."not ALWAYS" I reply.

Nope - every other site here flies quickly on 3Mbps DSL...its only the DirecTV site...even using the same router you are...it's been that way ever since they used the new design. I have the latest Java and other add-ins, so its not that either.

May be the routing your ISP is using to get there...because while the DirecTV site doesn't always operate as it should it is not slow for me.

You may also want to give a shot to flushing your cache and deleting the direcTV cookies.

Except that would not explain why I have gotten the exact same snail's pace for the website at 4 different locations using 3 different PC's and 3 different broadband services...it's not just 1 location or connection...it simply moves like lava... :D

Apparently, there are others who have seen the same thing....

The site design itself has come a long way and is improved...its the presentation layer that seems to be in slow motion...

Perhaps there is something on your account that would cause the slowness? I'm not doubting it's slow for you...just telling you it's not slow here...of course I'm often accused of being a DirecTV fanboy so take my post for what it's worth.
