Significantly Viewed Channels

Wanted to see if anyone had any recent information on the status of "significantly viewed" stations. Looking at the latest FCC list, I'm eligible to get three stations from another DMA which I would like to have.

I've looked through the previous threads on this, and haven't seen any recent developments. Anything new going on?

By the way, for those of you who haven't seen it yet, the latest list is available at the following link: hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-05-187A2.pdf

There is a significant argument going on in other threads as to whether or not Dish will be allowed to carry any significantly viewed. It's a question of whether the court ordered permanent injunction on Distant networks includes them.

Thats ridiculous.
Even before the recent events, E* has been slow to add SVs ... they have claimed in the past to have all the SVs on the system that they could make available, even though the FCC's list has stations E* does not carry as SVs. They do need the permission of the station to be carried as an SV, which may be why they are not on in some areas.

That being said recent events will probably pull the SVs that E* has. :(

Guess I just don't get the connection.Svs are legal, what Dish did with distants was not.

SVs are only legal because they are permitted under 17 USC 119. The judge has revolked E*'s permission to use the license of 17 USC 119 ... which also happens to include SVs.

The wording of the injuction has been questioned, more opinions in the thread mentioned - but the consensus seems to be that SVs are in danger.
