I would like to hook up my OTA directly into my television seeing as it may be awhile before OTA is enabled. Can I go directly into my television with my OTA and still use the D* remote? I've tried this, but nothing happens. Thanks in advance for the help.

What do you mean "but nothing happens"? You should be able to do OTA directly on your TV (assuming it has an ATSC tuner). You'll probably have to go to the setup menus and have it scan for stations before you'll be able to get anything because the channel number you know for a station is not the real frequency slot that the digital signal is carried on.

Most newer TVs have a source toggle. Hook up your ota cable direct to the TV, and select Antenna on the source. If your TV ihas a HD tunner, go into setup and select or scan for your local OTA station. When D* enables OTA through the HR20, you will use its tunner instead of the TV's. You will then not have switch between Antenna and Satellite.

If your HDTV has a built-in tuner (HDTVs manufactured in the last couple of years are required to have them by law), you have a proper antenna capable of receiving the HDTV broadcast signals (usually almost any UHF antenna will do), and are in a location where you can actually get the signal reliably, it shouldn't be a problem. You don't even have to mount an antenna outside if you use something like the Silver Sensor antenna (Google this) which you just place on your TV or A/V cabinet and point it to the broadcast source.

I would check with your neighbors or other people in your neighborhood to see if anyone is getting HDTV OTA. Find out what kind of antenna they're using. Unless there are some very tall buildings between you and the broadcast source and you're not more than 10-20 miles away, it should be a piece of cake. I can't image that in Florida geography plays any significant role in determining ability to receive a signal.

Go to AVS Forums and look for the HDTV forums. There is one for "Local HDTV Info and Reception" and "HDTV Reception Hardware". You should be able to find all the info you need.

The remote that comes with the HR20 is not a universal remote by any stretch. I think you are pretty much restricted to power and volume.

Yes, connect your OTA antenna to your HDTV (assuming it has a tuner and is not just a monitor) and you can watch all the local OTA HD you want (as well as SD). The big crank here for OTA on the HR20 is due to the ability to RECORD HD-Locals OTA, not just watch them. I can watch them now on my Sammy just fine.

I just placed a customer complaint with the csr over the ota antenna fiasco and all the restarts. She offered one month free showtime, I got 3! My ota works with my pioneer so I just can't record, hopefully local HD will be in Tulsa on Friday!

I'd look for Tulsa to go live next Wednesday... it's D's traditional day to turn on HD locals. Last week's Tuesday turn on was pushed up a day due to Thanksgiving, I'd bet.
