Is it possible to run two TVs at the same time off the HR20.

My main TV is hooked up through HDMI.

I used to have the Coax out on my R15 running into another room that doesnt have a receiver (a tv that rarely ever gets used only during parties so wasnt worth getting another receiver). It really didnt matter to me that both TVs were on the same channel.

Anyway as most of you know there is no Coax out on the HR20.

The TV in the other room is only about 25 ft away from the HR20, I was planning on running a set of Component cables out of the HR20 to that TV (dont care about the quality just so it plays).

Will the HR20 provide the single to the main tv via HDMI and the second TV via component at the same time?

Yes, but do you really want to run COMPONENT to the 2nd TV? Unless its HD, there's no point using component...either S-Video or COMPOSITE (single yellow) plus your audio leads to drive an RF modulator and send that to the TV.

Component is 3 cables, composite and S-Video are just one. I think you meant to say composite, not component.

Haha I know the difference, I was tired when I wrote this yea I actually bought a composite cable not a component cable.

As for the other post what will the modulator do?

An RF modulator will combine the composite video and analog/stereo audio into one Coax signal which you can then send to the other room using the wire you already have. The quality is not as good but as you say, you already have a wire run.

Yup; I did it the exact same thing with a modulator. But of course, since my other TV is not HD and I use Pillar box for non-hd content, the pictures on my little non-HD TV are kinda squished. But it serves a purpose.

Yes:

I have an HR20 connected to main TV via HDMI and a second HDTV in a secondary room in my master bath via Component (HDTV on two units is wonderful). The component and a third connection to the same TV for audio and SDTV is via baluns that use the component/composite/LR audio cables and a balun at each end and Cat 5e cable in the wall runs.

Check out - www.intelix.com for more details about them. :roundandr

Did it with a modulator since I already had the RG6 run to the other TV. Works perfectly, the Modulator I bought ($20) actually included some pretty nice cables and it accepted SVideo so the quality in the other room is pretty good, I was surprirsed. Its not HD but the TV isnt either so it doesnt matter.

I had been looking for a way to watch HD on two TV's via one DVR.
I think when we upgrade we'll put the DVR in the family room in order to utilize dolby digital. I was trying to find a way short of running an HDMI cable, or ANY cable for that matter, as a central stone firelplace is in the way, and cable runs in this house are not easy. In this months HDTVetc page29, is a wireless HDMI Extender from Gefen MSRP 499.00. of course I called the company, and it's not even out yet, perhaps after the first of the year! I did call the company to ask if it is directional, or omnidirectional, as if it requres line of site we're out of luck because the stone fireplace is in the way.
We are going to make the jump to HDTV in the house, but have not yet decided to go with the HR20 or switch to Adelphia and the TiVo Series 3, to keep the TiVo interface.
We've got the HR10 and HDTV in our RV and are chomping at the bit to go HDTV at home.
