If you're referring to the Dual Tuner models (622, 722, etc), they support (with the proper LNB and/or Switches) running both tuners over a single cable and it breaks it out with a 'Seperator' (basically a diplexor specific for that purpose). You could even put a regular diplexor in the mix if you wanted to include OTA signals down a single wire as well. In order to use the Seperator, you either have to have a DishPlus Pro Twin LNB or a DishPlus Pro 44 Switch. Usually when they provide the equipment for a new install and you have 2 or less receivers, they'll use the DPP Twin LNB for it so you only need one wire.

Do they have a SWM adapter for Dish DVRs? I'm thinking of coming back to Dish but don't want to cut holes in my new walls for the second wire.
Almost exact reason I switched after 5 years with the other guys. In my case they wanted to trench my lawn again for 3 more 70' runs of coax. If you go with Dish HD, you'll need 2 dishes, but they can feed the output of the HD dish into an input on the SD dish, and then you're onto one coax into your house. DirecTV can do it with one of their Slimline dishes with a SWM LNB or the standard LNB's with a SWM switch mounted off the dish. But the SWM LNB receiver, or the SWM switch are in beta testing or limited circulation, and you either have to be a commercial install or have a lot of receivers in your house in order to qualify for one. I just went thru it and it's the primary reason I have Dish now. Ironically, you can purchase the DirecTV SWM LNB or the SWM switch right on eBay. In fact, I just re-sold both of mine after deciding on Dish.

Why do you think Dish will require 2 dishes? A Dish 1000 should work and give you access to HD from a single dish.

Why? Because I had 2 of them installed at my house about 3 weeks ago. The SD dish pointed at 119-something degrees, and the other pointed at 60 something degees. The installer told me that they are not installing the new dish yet in my area. Have no idea why.

Certain areas in the US need 2 dishes but I think it an exception to the 1 dish rule. I live in Oregon and have 2 dishes also. Almost everyone in the Pacific NW need 2 dishes if you want HD.
I have two dishes here in MD, but it is certainly not because HD is on one dish and SD on the other!

Revising my post after reading the others, I forgot that HD required an additional sat location than the standard dish can provide, however even you have two dishes you can still run a single wire to the receiver if you have the right switching equipment and/or LNBs. There is a single dish solution too, but sort of depends on where in the country you live, as certain areas don't get very good signal strength on the HD sat and require a dedicated one to work (as many of us in the Pacific Northwest do).
