Supposedly the first production run of Slimline dishes had an error which requires use of a multiswitch for correct operation, no matter how many outputs are needed. Subsequent runs do not require the switch unless more than four tuners are to be used.

Thank You for the reply and explanation. If I need to add a 5th Receiver what will I need?
If you need anymore than 4 outputs that come from the AU9, then you need the WB68 multi switch. The 4 ouputs from the dish go into the 4 inputs of the WB68 Multi-switch. Then you will have 8 outputs to utilize in anyway you need. It dosen't matter how many receivers you have really. It depends on whether or not they are single tuner or dual tuner receivers.

For example, you can have qty. 8 of the H20 which are single tuner non-DVR receivers.

or

For example, you can have qty. 4 of the HR20 DUal Tuner DVR's.

or any combination that totals your 8 outputs from the multi-switch.

Is the Trek BMS-58 compatible with the slimline dish or will I have to get the wb68. And if I need the wb68, can I plug my OTA antenna into one of the extra ports on the multi switch and then split it out with diplexers like I currently due with the Terk BMS-58.

I'm almost positive the Terk BMS-58 WILL NOT be compatiable. What I mean by that is you can use it, but you will not be able to recieve any of D* MPEG4 feeds. Which are all of the HD locals and pretty sure the RSN's.
You cannot connect your OTA into the WB68. You would need to run a seperate OTA cable to your TV.

Somewhere on this site is a thread discussing multi-switches etc. I'll see if I can find it. I thought it was a sticky.

No you cant diplex with the new dish, you need a seperate dedicated feed straight from the ota attenna to the reciever, it CANT be hooked up in any way to the multiswitch due to the frequences ota and the new satellites use. the only compatable ms's are WB68 and WB616 by zinwell.

Well that blows, I don't mine using a new multiswitch, but having to run seperate lines for the OTA to 3 different receivers and TVs really sucks. Do you know if I can combine the antenna feed after the multiswitch and the diplex it back out using 2 diplexers.

Some people have done this, putting the BBC module after the multiswitch and the diplexer after that. It may cause a problem when the new satellites (which will actually use the BBC) are up next year, but nobody*will know for sure until that happens.

I am diplexing my OTA in with my 5lnb dish now, without problems. However, once the new birds go live, I expect to either be running new lines, moving my BBC module up stream of the diplexers, or, hoping their forthcoming FTM (single line) technology is ready and available.
