Slimline Dish came without LNBs?

After having my HR20 install cancelled twice and eventually purchasing it from circuitcity.com, my installer came out today to install the new dish. I saw the brand new slimline box in the installer's truck. A few minutes later, the installer tells me that the dish came from DirecTV without any LNBs and he wouldn't be able to complete my install. He said he had no 5 LNB dishes. He tells me that they can't go get another one because the warehouse is closed, but his "supervisor" said that he checked the other ones in their warehouse and they are the same (which I find very hard to beleive). After calling D* and talking to the installer's supervisor I got them to agree to put in a 3 LNB dish for now until the 5 LNB dish is available and they definitely made it sound like the installer messed up somehow in the process.

Does anyone know if the LNB's really ship separate from the dish for the Slimline dish? I feel like I'm being taken for a ride here.

The LNB assemblies are always in the same box with the rest of the pieces of the dish (this is the case for all older dishes anyways, I'm pretty sure it's the case for the slimline as well). No clue why all their boxes are missing them.
I've had a couple of cases of ODUs come without various bits of hardware. No nuts, bolts, etc. Never had a case with the LNBs missing though. With this things being made overseas with as cheap of labor as possible, anything is possible. :(

See, if those kids were sent to school before the factories, perhaps this wouldn't happen! :D
Am I reading this thread correct? The new 5lnb slimline dish is finally available?? And being installed?
Good question. If so can it be requested over the AT9? Should it?
Yes, it's gradually becoming available through regional installers as their supplies of AT9 5-LNB dishes dry up. I haven't seen it orderable from any online dealers yet.
Hmmm .... just checked eBay and their are a couple of Slimlines for sale there. Of course, buyer beware.

Yeah, and they also say, "half the size of the old one". I don't think so!

Yep - I saw the box with my very own eyes. It had the word 'Slimline' in a cursive font on it. The installer said this was going to be his first (which didn't inspire much confidence) but it appears that this is all they're getting from now on. My installer is MASTEC.
I just had MasTec install my slimline here in ATL.. that dish does look funny with the big blank spot where it looks like lnb's should be.

Stay on top of the MasTec guys.. I may have had a bad apple but he cut serious corners the later it got - unfortunately I wasn't home for the last bit of the install and my wife didn't know what to look for. I had to call in on the install and have it fixed - original dude left my switch hanging in mid-air rather than sercuring it to the wall, among other things.
I had a slimline installed in Utah on Friday. It looks like there are only 3 lnb's on the dish with a blank space for something else. I could be wrong, I didn't look at the dish too much, instead I was inside enjoying me some TV.
Humm...are the ones that look like they need 2 more lnb's being installed for the folks that can't get the 99/103 local HD channels yet?
If so, this may be the only dish they will install from this point on.....??
The "blank spot" is there to make the lnb arm look symmetrical.. all the needed lnb's are indeed in there.
So the slimline only requires 3 LNB's instead of 5?

According to the Zinwell WB68 manual, the switch is also supposed to be protected from rain and other water, such as sprinkler systems.

This may not be an issue with your install, but evidently not many folks have read the manual and think the switch is waterproof. I thought that myself until recently, when I found the installation manual in my carport.

It might look like there are only 3-LNBs, but there are actually 3-LNBs in one of the housings (99, 101 and 103-deg).

I wonder if the tech saw the box and thought the other two LNB's were missing. I never actually got to see what was in the box myself and the tech did say this was his first slimline install. Don't these guys get training on the new dishes?
Could some of you guys post pictures of the real dish ?!
