i am getting directv installed on monday and because i can not get HD (long story) using the sunday ticket promo the person i spoke with said i would be getting a slimline but oval shaped. i can not find any information regarding this dish (picture, size , etc.) anyone have knowledge of this dish or where i can find info?

sounds like a CSR who has no clue. Your standard slimline has always been oval. Why can't you get HD with the sunday ticket promo? it includes a free HD dvr for new customer from what I understand.

All the slimline's are oval shaped. I suspect you will get the standard HD slimline dish and it will be HD capable whether or not you get any HD receivers.

Better to call back. You should have no problem adding HD to the ST promo.

live in an apt so dish will be in bedroom, not allowed to install on roof and no balcony access. installer was here on monday to install hd but due to width of dish could not get hd signal. talked to Tammy in tech support and told her the situation, she said the oval shape is smaller than the hd dish and was putting notes in for installer to bring out oval dish.

Oh they want to give you the old 3LNB 'multisat' dish. That will indeed give you very limited and in the future no HD access. I bet you there is a way to do it but it would be outside the D* specs.
