Smaller Sets

The rage at the CES seems to be about bigger screens. What I really need for my sail boat is a wide screen ATSC capable set in the 15 to 19 inch size range. Can someone at the show find one of these?

Have you looked at Target or WalMart?.:)
I have indeed checked the local outlets. Nothing with ATSC is available. Sharp offers model LC20SH21U, a twenty in HDTV which is available for about $450 .. a very nice looking set but still a bit big for my crowded sail boat.

The FCC ATSC tuner mandate kicks in this spring. I'll probably have to wait until then.

Am I the only one interested in small screens?

No, you're not the only one, Hipar. I recently bought nice LCD HDTV (16:9) for my
office which fits the available space on my desk nicely. The primary limiting factor
was width, so, after considerable research, I chose a 23" Philips with speakers
under the screen to save on overall width of the set.

Measure your available space (H,W) and look for ATSC displays whose physical
dimension are within those limits. Also, consider whether you will want the built-in
speakers on the wings (sides) which will make the set wider, or under the screen
which will save on width, but will make the set a bit taller. Finally, consider which
type of mount will serve your needs best. I don't recommend using an unsecured
(removable) table stand, even when docked. Either clamp it down securely or go
with a sturdy mount.
