Just for giggles I plugged my iPhone's USB cable into the back of the H24 in my bedroom and then plugged in my iPhone. Sure enough the phone was happy to charge from it and the H24 didn't seem to mind.

Now I've got one less thing plugged into the wall in my bedroom.

Yes, that trick has been used for running laptop cooling fans for years on the other HR boxes. The only downside is if you need the USB port for an AM21 OTA tuner add-on.

yup been charging my phone during installs that way for years.
and it's handy that dvr's have a 2nd one on the front.
