Sorry, but a Direct Tivo does do this. It is more predictable with how they implemented dual buffers. What you described ONLY works if you were recording; with a Direct Tivo you do not need to be recording to get this functionality.shaun-ohio said:

Sorry, I misunderstood your fine point. It is not really worth debating/bragging about this but I am pretty (95%) sure when I leave a prerecorded show that when I come back to it it remembers where I left off. However you are correct, previous does not bring you back to a recorded show. That is arguablly nice--one less button click than on a Tivo. I too have an HR20, an R10 and an older Series 2 that I still use. I also owned Series 1. Because of the tivo suggests stuff I still keep an extra DirectTivo running...that and I was waiting for the stability to improve on the HR20.shaun-ohio said:duh read the fine print i said i was watching a program that i had recorded you know as playing it back, you tell me you can do this with the dirctv tivo i dont think so they only way you can do it is pause the pre-recorded show you are watching then back out out it the directv tivo does not have no active button on it not that im aware of and the only way you can get back to your pre-recorded program is to go back to the now playing list not by just hitting the previous button? besides my r10 has the same software it has had for ages the 6.1 and it has never been upgraded, and you can tell me you can do with the tivo as the hr20 i dont think so because i have both
Not sure that I want something that is working well getting software upgrades!shaun-ohio said:... r10 has the same software it has had for ages the 6.1 and it has never been upgraded...
If you're playing a recorded program on a DTivo you simply press Live TV and you jump to live TV, saving your place in the recorded program. Then if you want you can press Live TV again and flip to the 2nd live buffer and watch that channel. You can continue jumping between the two live buffers by pressing Live TV again and if you wish, you can pause each of those buffers. To resume watching your recorded program you press LIST and PLAY. That's it, no need to navigate through the menus unless you really really want to.shaun-ohio said:duh read the fine print i said i was watching a program that i had recorded you know as playing it back, you tell me you can do this with the dirctv tivo i dont think so they only way you can do it is pause the pre-recorded show you are watching then back out out it the directv tivo does not have no active button on it not that im aware of and the only way you can get back to your pre-recorded program is to go back to the now playing list not by just hitting the previous button? besides my r10 has the same software it has had for ages the 6.1 and it has never been upgraded, and you can tell me you can do with the tivo as the hr20 i dont think so because i have both
I wish I could disable the lame active button. I always accidentally hit it. That is one button I did not copy to my HTM MX500 remote.Wolffpack said:Active button? No, there was no "active" content from DTV when the DTivos were being sold so there was no need for an ACTIVE button.
I have been tempted to crack open the remote to physically disable that button. Should be easy to do with an exacto knife or even putting some kind of insulator preventing the button from closing the circuit.rsonnens said:I wish I could disable the lame active button.
