I'm experiencing an odd issue where my Sonic Tap channels are starting to disappear...so far, it's up to almost a dozen which have been removed. They are neither in my guide, nor directly accessible, and in the last few days, I've lost Jazz, Metro Blend, Piano, PUMP!, Familiar Favorites, Irish, and Tranquility...just to name a few.

I called D*, and the rep told me that I was right, those channels are no longer there, but if I looked through the other channels, I might find one that had music that was similar. Thing is, I knew those channels were all missing because I LIKED THOSE CHANNELS.

So, she didn't really answer my question...where did they go, and are they coming back?!?

Might I add, this is not reciever specific. I have three linked via MRV, and none are recieving thse stations.

Anyone else experiencing this?

after talking to ANOTHER CSR, she's not seeing those channels either. It appears as though mine new setup with a single LNB is a common installation configuration for MRV, but that "listening to music channels is something she normally doesn't do." She said that this installation, by putting a single LNB on my dish for the SWIM, I would no longer be able to see the 119 sat.

She assured me that they did set it up correctly, (which I suppose they did) but I'd still like to be able to see all the sats that are up there, I mean who wouldn't. She's getting another installer to come out and replace my LNB.

Thanks for the info, DBS buds!

This is correct. The normal method of installing MRV includes a LNB that doesn't see 119. They can put you back on the old LNB and use a separate SWM module.

According to SatelliteRacer in the new prices thread, Pandora is coming very soon, so at least for Internet connected DVRs, this likely will become less of an issue. In the past it's mostly affected people that listened to some of the International Sonic Tap channels, or wanted to start listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving.

Be much simpler just to change to an SL5S LNB, still one cable, gets all 5 satellites. The OP will have to rerun Satellite Setup on all receivers, but that's easy.

I just think it's odd that a configuration used for MRV would ignore one whole satellite entirely. What if a bunch of other non music-specific stations are moved to 119 in the future? Would I just never be able to receive them?

Even still at the present time, if I'm paying for these 25 or so channels as part of the Premiere Subscription package, I want to get them. Seems rather ridiculous that these CSRs don't understand why that would be when I ask for a solution.

Not sure why I forgot about that LNB. Though, if someone at some point needed more than 8 tuners, it would be easier for some to add capacity with a normal LNB and swap out for a SWM16.

There are also several markets who's SD locals are on 119. Those markets will always have a 5 LNB solution. For the vast majority of folks, not having 119 doesn't seem to affect them. For me, I was having issues because my recievers were not set up correctly. I could see the music channels in the guide, but when I tuned to them, I got different music. I never even thought of the 5 LNB thing until I noticed that the Jack Benny shows were on JLTV (366). When I tuned to that channel, all I got was a black screen. This is when I did the troubleshooting and a phone call to get the 5 LNB. I'm now getting the JLTV channel and I'm enjoying the missing music channels as well.

I kind of get it that the spanish music would be on the 119 because a lot of the spanish video channels are on 119. As an installer if I am doing a Spanish customer install I will make sure it is with a 5 lnb. That said, I DO NOT understand why DTV does the other music channels on 119. I really think they need to be sent out so that a 3 lnb can be used. I recall a snowy day I had an irrate customer wanting me to climb to the peak of her roof an put on the 5 lab for the holiday music channel. Of course I made her wait until the snow had melted off, but my day would have gone better if I had not had to go up at all.

Also I have noticed that the Jewish TV channel is availble on 119. I think D* channel guide ,which has JTV would, make the default of installing a 5LNB dish.

Resurrecting this old thread because I just discovered I'm suffering from this same problem. When moving recently, the installer gave me a SL3 dish, and I no longer receive the music stations I always listened to on 119 (specifically Metro Blend). I called to complain so they're sending out a technician next weekend. Anyone know what it'll take to fix the problem? Can they just give me a new LNB (SL5?) that sees all the satellites, or do I need a whole new dish? I do have MRV and some sort of SWM now.

If you have 8 tuners or less, they changed you over to a SL3-SWM. There is an SL5-SWM, but not sure if that is stocked on the trucks.
Hmm, so I guess I should probably try and talk to the installer before he comes out, so he can change out the SWM? That's a separate part than the LNB, right?
