So, this morning I find a message to install SP3 on my computational device. Following my duties, I do as per the instructions. Now I can't hear any audio off the net or through my Winamp program. I can hear external devices such as my turntable which runs through a preamp and then into my soundcard. I can hear things that are recorded or played on programs such as Cubase. I can't hear anything on the internet (Youtube, etc.) or through my Winamp program. WHAT DID THEY DO TO ME???? I am begining to come to the conclusion that maybe I'm not meant to have a computer.

Yeah, Richard, blame it poor, defenseless MSFT! I just upgraded one of our laptops to SP3 the other day without incident. But that one's a pretty plain vanilla installation. Good luck getting it all sorted out. I'd say, "When it rains, it pours!" but you've already had enough of that this year.

Funny.... I just help install DSL for a friend's computer who was previously on dial-up. Part of the upgrade involved running all of the upgrades to XP and installing SP3. Today, I get a call that the audio wasn't working.

Turns out that the audio was reverted to the modem audio (???). So, I had to go into the Sound Devices CP to resolve it. Minor irritation.

This is one big update. My Athlon 1.2 desktop took 1-1/2 hours to process it and my Pentium M 1.7 laptop took 25 minutes. No problems so far.
