I went to do a sight survey for a complex with 10 buildings, each building at 26 units each, 3 stories.

They had the first building up and were painting inside. They ran 6 rg11 from dist room out to dish location which for some reason will be pole mounts out in front of the building (ya, wth?)

The first buliding is only about a 40' run to the dist room.

Other buildings are going to end up at 150' or more from the dish due to this put the dish at the south end on a pole instead of on the roof about 50' out.

Is this even possible with amps at over 150' up to 175' even using rg11?

Absolutelydoable.

You just need to design your system with that in mind and recomend parts to make it work. Nomally a SA6AL ampliier would fit the bill nicelly with the ability to add up to +20 db to each line individually.

no amp(s) will be needed between dish and first closet. I take it they are running RG11 from the first room to the secound and then to the third? All daisy chained?

This type of install needs to be balance designed by some one with a lot more information and experance then you have.

I due a lot of these type builds, (15 years) and I even have to go to some one at times.

I use Senora Designs, they are very good and have all the parts needed.

no there is only one home dist room in each building, but some will be 150' from dish

rest of building to each apartment dist (pry 3 or 4 cables in each apartment closet) is normal rg6 which should only be about 40' max, but some home runs back to the main dist room would be in that 150' again

You need to engineer an MFH2 distribution system, which is currently the only system sanctioned by directv for mdu.. If that is beyond your technical ability your distributor partner's engineering department can assist you so long as you have a commercial / smartv / mdu directv dealer account depending on the exact type of installation and programming to be provided. this is not the type of installation to make guesses on or to experiment. all the drops from the dish need to be properly balanced.
