Don't buy it expecting to see pro sports (MLB, NHL, NBA) *except*

1. If you live in an area served by two RSNs (Fox Sports West and Fox Sports Bay Area, for example) but only get one of these normally, the Sports Pack will get you the pro games on the other RSN that you qualify for. Enter your ZIP code at dish.fxep.com to see if this applies to you.

2. NHL *reruns* are not blacked out. (MLB reruns were blacked out this year, don't know about the NBA yet.)

Also, there may be some college football / basketball available on other RSNs (both live and tape-delayed) that isn't shown on your home RSN. Like this weekend, Oregon St. - Arizona St. is only being shown on Fox Sport Arizona.

Is the above worth $5/month? You decide ...

Being Qickstang is a D* sub, it would be $12/month for all 23 RSNs, but blackouts will be heavy as states above. Also included is the Sports pak is Fox Sports World, Golf Channel, NBA TV and now The Outdoor channel.

Living in Greeneville (pretty close to Knoxville), I can tell you what I receive with the sports package. You will get reruns of NHL/NBA games, but not live broadcasts for the most part unless you have purchased the NHL/NBA subscriptions. However, if you like hockey, you will probably receive both the Carolina Hurricanes' and Nashville Predators' live broadcasts, since you are between both cities' market areas.

As far as the NBA is concerned, last year, we got the live broadcasts for Charlotte and Atlanta, but now Charlotte has moved. We will probably get Atlanta's live feeds, but I doubt that we will get New Orleans. You will probably get all NBA replay feeds unless there are changes in the NBA Full Court licensing agreement.

Baseball wise, traditionally no live or replay feeds overall (the one sport who should be marketing to fans to win them over is the sport most restrictive of their feeds; someone explain this stupid decision to me!) . I do subscribe to MLB Extra Innings, so feeds are not a problem for me. I do know, however, that the Knoxville area usually gets Atlanta and Cincinnati live feeds (Wednesday night games are blacked out on MLB Extra Innings, but these feeds were not blacked out in our area on Wednesday nights). Last year, replay feeds not blacked out included the above teams and Cleveland and the Yankees. Sometimes Boston and Baltimore's replays were not blacked out as well, but there didn't seem to be a consistent pattern on whether these two teams were shown.

I know this is probably clear as mud ;) but I hope this is helpful to you. I'm a sports fanatic, so I don't mind paying the extra for the sports channels. I guess it depends on how much of a sports fan that you are.
