Nothing much....

Spot Beam is a technology DirecTV (and others) are using, so they focus a particular "content" set on a specific area.

For example... They use Spot Beam to only send the Chicago Locals, to the "general" Chicago area. People in LA don't physically receive the Chicago Content.

When it comes to aligning the sat dish.... It means that some of your transponders will be 0, when somewhere else in the country they could be 99

I still wish we could get a map of the HD Spotbeams. There has to be a way to recycle the code used to map out the SD locals to create a map for HD locals based on transponder strength.

For completeness, the spot beams on the 101 satellite are 4, 12, 18, 20, 26, & 28. For 119, they are 23, 25, 27, & 31.
I just checked my locals here in Tulsa with my DSR-704. Tulsa locals are on the 119, transponder 29, so add that to the spot beam list.

Is it came from FCC filing ? May we have a URL ?
I know of no URL, but these have been common knowledge for several years now. That link above is about the closest thing you'll get. And if you do a signal test you can verify them by the lack of signal or a real strong signal on those TPs.
