There are people who want premier without HD and DVR so they do a la carte.

you should get a price break if you want it,dvr used to be included

If you're grandfathered in I believe you still can, but if you've changed your package you no longer get that discount.
I agree with the topic here. Premiere should include HDaccess (im grandfatherd so mine includesd dvr) IMHO. I have premiere and a big bill too. I have thought recently about cutting it back, but who knows if i will.

They do - The Titanium package.

Or did you mean a package that includes everything YOU want?
LOL.

This is the kind of topic we will get if a la carte ever becomes the norm for cable and satellite.

Look, they charge you one way or another. What difference does it make if they include the price in a package and credit you or just have it as an add-on?
They are more than nickel and dimeing us, it's usually no less than $1. So technically it would be stop "dollaring" us.
Perhaps they could offer the long rumored all access package?

Why should you get a price break? I mean, what reason should DirecTV lower the price of its Premier package by including DVR service and HD access? Just because "they've always done it that way"?

Come on, lets stop with this kind of thing. We all know what he means.

Do we?

He said he wanted a plan that included everything. That plan exists.

Maybe he just meant a plan that includes everything in Premier plus HD plus DVR?

What about the customer that wants Premier plus HD, but doesnt have a DVR?

What about the customer that wants Premier plus DVR, but doesn't want HD?

What about the customer that wants Premier plus Adult Programming?

You see, he doesn't really want a package that includes everything, he wants a package that includes everything HE wants.

No company can please EVERYONE, including D*.

Even if they offered the exact package the OP wants, there's be many others that would want it changed to suit their needs.

Yes we(at least I do) do know.

Did you not notice the part where he said having to add DVR and HD to the Premiere pak was a ripoff? It's not what HE wants, it's what the Premiere pak used to be. A collective package of all the premium channels/packages(minus Playboy) they offered, plus the added DVR/programming fees, for one price. I dunno but I really didn't find it hard to realize that's what he's asking for.
Seems like we know of which he wants. Premier the way it was: All the non PPV channels with all the HD (there weren't any) :) and all the DVR services (there weren't any of those either.) :)

(I include in the PPV Playboy and the sports oackage subscriptions, cuz that is kinda what they are.)

All Access would be awesome, I'd really like to see it. I'm assuming DIRECTV's marketing has and continues to review the viability of such a package (along with many other options.) The most likely will be tested; others won't.

Cheers,
Tom
Guess I learned from this thread. I just added HD Extra Pack and one Premium channel to my Choice Plus HD DVR. That added $17 to my $73 bill. At the time, it seems like adding one more permium channel I might as well switch to Premier. But apparently that drops the HD+DVR functionality? So I have to add another $16 onto the Premier price?

Now that D* has so many HD channels, I can see the argument that HD Access should be free on their top-of-line packages. It would be nice too if HD for Sunday Ticket was not yet another bill addon. At some point, it will ALL be HD channels, so "opting in" is more and more becoming a requirement if you want to see anything decent. I would argue that DVR should always be an add-on since some people may not want DVR service. But it does seem odd the Premier has HD-ONLY channels in it and you have to pay extra for HD Access to see them? Why not just roll it in like Choice Plus HD. Just make a Premier HD or Premier HD DVR plan. $120 is pretty steep though. I personally would never consider paying more than $100 (although I'm pretty close to it now but couldn't pass up the the Starz+Showtime 2-1 offer right now)

i thought the titanium package could not be gotten anymore. can you still get it?? what is the price now?
It's not like you have to write a check for every line item in your bill. I'm glad they offer it where if I want to drop HD for a while (not gonna ever do that!) or stop paying the DVR fee for my TiVo Series 2, I can.

I was never one to think true ala carte would work, but paying a premium for HD, which will be the norm soon is a joke. I find I only watch HD now, and would gladly pay for an HD only channel package. I never watch the non HD channels anyway.

Titanium was a made up package to get larger settlements from satellite pirates. I can't believe any judge bought that BS. Has anyone gotten Titanium? I have total choice so I never even considered it cause I am cheap, and poor, but even if I won the lotto I would keep total choice.

yes, there's people with Titanium. I recently read an article in one of the HT mags detailing someone's HT build (Hollywood producer or director or something) in his new mountain retreat. the article mentioned that he had the Titanium package.
