I turned on my video room DVR this morning and was greeted with a message that I now had the ability to share recorded programs with my other receiver in the house. It then asked me to label the DVR, which I did and hit OK. I expected to go into the living room and have to go through the same scenario. However, when I turned it on I did not get any message. So I decided to write down the various details and ask here. These are:

SWIM system

Living Room

DVR Model HR22/100
Software Version 0x59e

Video Room

DVR Model HR20/700
Software Version 0x5c8

Can anyone advise me on this? Was this message on the video room DVR an error by the equipment? Is Whole House Recording possible with SWIM?

I have been posting about slow response time in other posts and am wondering if I would be making the performance worse if I tried to implement this capability if I got the message on the living room DVR?

The recording sharing seems like a nice function to have as I duplicate a lot of my series recordings so that I can watch them in either room.

Any advice would be welcome.

Are your receivers networked in any fashion? WHDVR service only works if you have your boxes networked. It could be that your Video Room DVR was just updated with new software and included the message as a result of the process.

Are your HR22 and HR20 connected via DECA adapters? Or are their ethernet ports connected to your home network? How?
They both have Cat5 connections but each one is connected to a different router. I have two routers with fixed addresses assigned by the ISP and the DVRs are hardwired to these. I wi-fi my laptops and printers to these routers.

This is (once again) poor programmers who don't check their work beforehand; older models (20-700, 20-100, etc) are especially vulnerable, but even the newest models are seeing problems.

I got a couple of phone calls earlier this week when that 'new' s/w was run out and foisted upon subscribers, and these weren't individuals, but were MDU operators who are swamped now with a stack of complaints about s-l-o-w DVR's, messed up series, and the like.. (Re)Booting helps somewhat, but I think DirecTV is once again going down a road they have shut their eyes to.

We are all at their mercy.

It is a bug on the last FW. Got that message with just one receiver on the network. Redo the network settings and while you are at it, check all the other settings especially screen resolutions and aspect ratio. My were messed up after the upgrade.
