I just got a new H20 receiver and when the service tech installed the new AT9 dish I started getting some strange behavior. Basically certain channels, such as 107, 204, 206, 245 (plus a few more) exhibit "Searching for Satellite". All the other channels are fine. This problem exists on all my receivers.

In addition to the H20 I have 3 RCA DRD420RE(s), an R15, and a Hughes DVR80. The rg6 from the dish connects to the inputs on a wb68. The service tech who installed the dish came back last night and changed the multiplexer with no change in behavior. We then removed the diplexers from the non HD receivers. Once this was done, the behavior got even stranger. If the DVR80 is tuned to one of the channels that we had problems with, then all receivers get the channel. If we change the channel on the dvr80 then the other receivers will lose the satellite for that channel.

Any thoughts or suggestions on where I might get an answer? As of now the tech is planning on coming back today or tomorrow and installing a new dish.

thanks

I connected four of the older receivers directly to the output of the at9 dish (eliminating the wb68) and the channels now appear to be okay. Does this mean it is the wb68? what are the chances of two bad ones? Or could it be a cable to one of the other receivers (this doesn't seem likely to me as if there were a cable problem why would it affect only some channels?)

thanks

Well, I have tried almost all cable combinations with the multiswitch and satellites. I even tried cascading my old powered multiswitch, which didn't work at all. I thought I had it this morning by putting in a amplifier in my longest cable run to a receiver (which is 100+ feet), but after an hour the channels started missing again. I have replaced most of my cables and now I am totally stuck. I have called D* and they think it is either the multiswitch or a ground problem and I have another service call scheduled for next week. Still missing about 12-20 channels. I have my doubts about D* remote diagnosis and the service tech ability to fix anything - all they seem to be able to do is install dishes.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I tired exactly what you suggested and whenever I put more than two cables between the two switches the outputs from the second (powered) switch dropped out. In other words I wasn't able to successfully connect all four cables. With only two cables connected I then wasn't able to get all channels - I was missing all the locals. Perhaps this means my WB68 multiswitch is faulty?

thanks for the help

Well, directv service tech came out and first of all replaced connectors connected to the wb68 with no change - still missing channels. They finally replaced the LNB assembly (fortunately they had a at9 dish that came in without hardware - otherwise who knows how long i would have had to wait for new parts) and voila the missing channels appeared.

thanks for all the help and tips
