I'm jus curios on the overview of what you like, as the techs views and customers views. Personally I see the stubby mounts as a great technology and great idea on the tech side. It is twice as fast installing the dish because no need for monopoles and you only have to level up an down. Also it's much neater and lower to the roof and makes the customers happier. Now as the customer view I'm not sure why they wouldn't like it.

Universal mast with two monopoles on a brick wall, seeing as the first preferred mounting method is a wall mount...

jokes aside, the stubby mount is great as long as there is no concern of roof pitch greater than 12:12. Also, at 12:12 the lnb arm will hit the roof on a south-southwest-facing house in my DMA (101 @ az 198*, el 48*). Other than those few conerns it is definitely fast, and customers seem to love the idea of fewer lag bolts in their roofs. It also takes more care when setting it up, since there is no ability to adjust the tilt of the mast itself (other than laterally) once the foot is in place...

My only concern is the long-term weight/load of a slimline vs. metal fatigue at the four contact points the bolts make between the foot and mast. Maybe WNC/Directv thought of this and I'm a few steps behind?
