Suddenly getting Severe Pixellation & dropouts !!!

820 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  RichH25
Just started this morning -- clear day, no clouds, no interference to the dish.

I am getting very cinstant and intermittent dropouts - resulting in "Searching for Satellite, blah blah blah..: Comes right back, but very annoying. It happens on ALL of my channels ... Trying to watch the US Open (USAHD) ...

Anyone else seeing this?? My signal strengths all appear very strong and nothing has changed from yesterday...

Thanks

What receiver are you using?

Did you try a restart.

You're saying that your signal strengths are the same as yesterday?

Mike
Both an H20-100 and an HR10-600 (the DVR one). These have been installed for a year. The signal strengths are solid. Both receivers have the issue that just started today ... Have not tried a RESTART ....

Maybe your Multi-Switch is going or has gone bad. Bypass the multi-switch and wire one receiver to the dish directly and see if the problem goes away.:)

Which dish do you have and do you have a multi-switch?

Are the signal strengths the similar for both receivers?

Mike
My folks have a very old dual LNB dish (1995 vintage) with a HDVR2 Tivo. They asked me to check it out. Their signal strength is over 95 and they also complained it was the US Open on USA that was unwatchable. I think D* is having some issues with this because USA is working fine during other shows on their setup.

Try restarting both receivers. If that does not work, check the connections at your dish, grounding block, and at your multiswitch. I had an install done about a year ago and had a similar issue show about about 1 month ago. The installer had not installed the F connectors tightly on two of the lines into my grounding block. Expansion from warm temps, moisture, and then contraction and night, can make the issue worse. I cut the connectors off, installed new compression fittings, and have had not issue since.
