Not sure if this is the right place to make a suggestion, or if this is one that is already under consideration, but any on-screen display should be exitable to remove it from the screen.

My current example is watching TV (Wimbledon tennis, BTW) delayed, perhaps about an hour or so -- had to watch the kids play outside for a while. So the match is likely over, and I'm just trying to catch up on it. And now some strong storms are rolling through, and I can't get the searching for signal message off the screen!

Even if the message popped back up once in a while to remind me would be better than the message just sticking there.

I'm sure there's some work around, like recording the program and playing back rather than watching 'live' but c'mon, just allow me to dispatch the message.

A follow up: Twice while watching the buffered material while the searching for signal message is displayed, the screen saver has popped up, as if the unit (an HR20-700, BTW, national software release, I think) thinks it's paused or something.

I would consider that an issue that needs to be reported. The screen saver should never come on when there is an active playback on the receiver. Make sure you post as much detailed information as possible in the issues thread for your receiver.

It seems as if the system is looking for a live and current feed, and once it looses a signal, after a few minutes the screensaver appears because the DVR thinks there's no active signal coming into the box.

So there has to be a differentiation between "buffered playback" and "real time playback" in the system.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was not native to one model of the HR2X series.

Best trick I know for this is to hit record (to save the show) and then go and play the recording.. it won't show up if your watching a recording..

I agree, all OSD should be "exitable". I think it is, if you can be bothered to push the "exit" button, can it not?

Regardless, that is one of my fondest backdoor features of the HR10 -- the time bar cleared in half a second no matter what mode you were in, all on its own.

Copying ideas is the most-sincere form of flattery. (HINT HINT!) Time to get busy, DTV.
