The HR20 is the first HD DVR I've ever owned. We upgraded our old reliable Tivo to the HR20. After two weeks, my wife has had it. We can't do season passes (have to tell it what to record every few days to make sure we don't miss an episode), the blank/corrupt recordings, 30 second slip is annoying, no Wish List, and the interface is grating and counterintuitive. The remote is just ridiculous.

Bottom line, we really miss our Tivo.

So if I decided to pick up a used HR10-250 on ebay to watch HD on DirecTV, could someone summarize the issues for me in terms of what I'd lose? I think the answer is just:

- Can't watch any local channels without an off-air antenna

I'd still be able to watch all the 70's HD content, like HBO HD, Showtime HD with Tivo just fine. Is this accurate? Thanks a ton and best of luck with the HR20.

As of Today; Content wise: Yes, Local Channels via SAT, in addition to interactive features

There are some of the other "differences", such as Caller-ID, Picture in Guide, Single button record, ect...

But it is what will happen over the next 18 months....

DirecTV is moving all SAT based HD content to MPEG-4
The new announced features, ViiV, DirecTV2Go, VOD
Will not be on the HR10
