Hi All,

I'm a long time DTV subscriber with only the Sunday Ticket and SF on my subscription. I've been searching for an answer to my question but can't seem to find it, so I figured I'd post and ask for some help from the experts:)

I have an H10 HD receiver currently that is going to be replaced with a new MPEG4 capable receiver from Directv. Now I only subscribe to Sunday Ticket w/Superfan and I'm under the assumption that the ST HD channels will be switching over to MPEG4 for the 2008 season. Am I correct?

Is it possible to keep the same sat dish while using the new receiver and some how still receive the HD broadcast of ST? What satellite are the ST HD channels on? Can I just adjust my dish to point at the correct sat? If I can do this will I still be able to receive the SD and HD channels without having to move the dish?

Thanks for your help,

Mark

You are correct in that HD ST will be MPEG4 this year.

Unfortunately, it will be transmitted from the two new satellites that your dish will not receive.

DirecTV will install a new dish for you when they bring the receiver. And get ready for much, much better picture quality from the MPEG4 transmissions!

The "Slimline" dish picks up the five satellites that most people need for SD and HD. They are on ebay for about $60 and at Solid Signal for about $100.

when you sign up for/upgrade to the new (mpeg-4) HD capable equipment for the first time, you should be getting professional installation included (i.e. new slimline dish that picks up the Ka signals at 99w and 103w). I think they essentially mandate the professional installation.
