I don't watch reality TV.. I think it sucks because there is nothing real about it... but that's another story.

Today CBS and Survivor Gabon are my new heroes... for the simple reason that they have given the Parents Television Council another excuse to show what absolute idiots they can be.

Apparently on the premier episode of the show, now be presented in HD (lol), someones tallywacker enjoyed an extremely brief moment of freedom! It is so brief that no one caught it in the editing room.

But the Parents Television Council caught it in frame by frame slow motion, no doubt after it was exposed on numerous web sites. In their righteous idignation they have marched off to the FCC and filed an indecency complaint.

CBS claims it was "completely unintentional, inadvertent, and fleeting" and "undetectable when viewed in real time."

The Parents Television Council says "CBS's decision to hide behind excuses ... is the epitome of irresponsibility."

The lawyers are standing in the wings laughing their collective butts off while rubbing their hands together and ordering new BMW's.

Hmmm .. I can say for a fact that I did not see it when I watched it in real time. Heck, this is the first I've ever seen about it.

This from a show that has a "Blur Guy" because of the frequent covering of butt crack and cleavage. I sure how the FCC dishes out a hearty helping of "Give me a Break!"

Some people really need to get a life. i watch the show on a 65inch set and didn't even notice this. If the FCC fines CBS it is a load of crap. They can't expect a network to catch something that is only on a frame or two.

The FCC isn't doing real well in the "fining CBS department" they have lost several to CBS in court of late, including the Janet Jackson and Without a Trace cases...

That's why CBS is my hero, they have taken an attitude of "fight" instead of the usual wimpy settle tactics of most broadcasters.

Same here. We watched the premiere last weekend, and I sure didn't see any free range tallywhackers on the telly.

And I hadn't heard about it until I saw this thread, either. Of course, this is the first time I've had a chance to sit down in front of a computer for more than a few seconds all week.

When CBS fights, the taxpayers pay.
And given that we do, I think it might be time to start a Class Action against the PTC for filing frivolous lawsuits that cost us money. Hell, everyone else is getting a piece of this action, why shouldn't we?? I'll take my $.034 settlement and buy a coke at Costco.......

I get mad when they blur stuff out period. Just show it like it is. We are like the only country that is so prudish about this stuff. Its really stupid. Oh, we'll be scandalized by seeing a butt crack or side boob. I think they should release seasons of Survivor on DVD without the blurry spots. Just rate it PG-13 or R. It would probably increase sales.

The Parents Television Council is costing the government a small fortune. In this case, perhaps the FCC finally could rule that if you can't see something clearly in real time on a 32" TV, it isn't there.

But my guess is that Survivor's ratings will climb a bit what with all the kids tuning in something they wouldn't ordinarily watch.

These people truly need to spend more time watching their children and less time watching television to "protect" the rest of us. The "slippage" involved is really minor... check it out for yourselves below...

I had seen a clip on cnn a few days ago about it (cant find a link) but apparently there was only ONE complaint filed.

Just out of curiosity, but do people really think there should be no limits when it comes to what's shown on TV? Should networks be allowed to show full frontal? What about hardcore sex? Homosexual sex? How about torturing of animals? What about news stories involving shootings where someone is killed? Should they be allowed to show it at any time of the day?

All I'm going for here is do people REALLY think anything goes or do people really think nothing should be hidden or withheld? It seems to be that most on this thread think there should be no limits but I'm wondering if they truly feel that way.
